Blood Pressure | Hypertension – Causes, Control, Symptoms

Hypertension(Blood Pressure) is the most common disease nowadays. The reason for this is the kind
of food we take, the type of lifestyle we adopt and the tensions in the day to day life. High blood pressure sometimes causes hemorrhage in the brain and leads to paralysis.

 Blood Pressure Range

Normal Blood Pressure is considered to be 120/80 mmHg. Anything more than 120 in systolic or more than 80 in diastolic pressure is high blood pressure. One cannot come to a conclusion by considering one reading. The reading may be due to an instant tension or the diet taken at that time. Regular readings of BP for three consecutive days need to be taken and then arrive at a conclusion.

The American Heart Association(AHA) defined the follow-
ing ranges:
Normal                                     120/80
Prehypertension                    (120-139)/(80-89)
Stage 1 High B.P                    (140-159)/(90-99)
Stage 2 High B>P                  (160 or higher/100 or higher
Hypertensive Crisis              When B.P is above 180/100
(a medical emergency)

High systolic rate leads Cardiovascular diseases in people increases people above 50 years of age.  As the age increases, people are prone to hypertension due to obesity and less exertion.
